Contacts and Organisations (with excel doc)

I chose the Millennium Gallery to promote myself to, as it is one of the bigger galleries and is also located in the town centre. I would send them a business card, as it seems professional. I would also send them a CD porfolio, as it lets them see my work, and from this, I would hope they would promote my exhibition.

Evalution - Blogging a gallery visit (self promo)

My Promotions

Business Card - The business card contains the logo (BP and 'Luciana Solini') and a phone number. It would have been more effective to add a photo or a website. I think keeping it black and white as the logo is black and white. If i added a photo, it wouldn't have been in colour. I would give these out the businesses and stick them on notice boards.

Mug - The mug contains the logo and phone number. I think this is enough basic information for the mug and using a mug as a technique of selling your business is a good as it is something most people will use everyday, and when there is a time that they need a photographer, they will see the mug and think of my business. I would give these out on jobs, as mugs are more expensive to make.

Mouse mat - The mug contains my logo and phone number, and it is also an everyday object that gets seen a lot. Although since it is a mouse mat, a website would have been more appropriate that a phone number. I would also give these out to businesses or offices for there workers to use so I get promoted more.

T-shirt - The t-shirt contains my logo and phone number. I wouldn't really give them out, as people are unlikely to wear them. Instead, I would wear it when giving out other materials (mug, business cards, CD) to promote myself more. The t-shirt would have more effect if it had the word "photographer' on the back.

CD - On the CD is my portfolio and a list of my sites. I think that this is enough to go on the CD as it is enough basic information and photos to persuade the person to go with my business. The CD is in a black, glossy cardboard case with one of my photos on the front. I think that this is enough as if i overloaded it with information on the case then it could put people off. Also, the CD has photos on it so there is no need to put loads of photos in the case. I would give these out on the street as they contain the most information of the self promotional items and I think they would be the most effective.

Overall, all my items cost £29.99 all together. I think this is a reasonable price but I don't think the business cards were worth the money for the quality, and I could have got these free from vistaprint.com. I also could have got the t-shirt for cheaper, but the quality wouldn't have been as good as the one I purchased.

Other's promotions

1) The business card was well designed, but it could have had more on it, for example a photo. The colour scheme idea to make the writing stand out more against the background was a well thought out idea. The pen was a good idea and design, and didn't have an overload of information in it what is good. The pen and business card could have had the same colour scheme to make it more effective, but overall the ideas were well thought out and good.

2) The shirt was a good idea, after it had been redone and the logo was less messy. The shirt could have had a photo or more contact information on to make it more effective. The cards, pen and notepad were good promotional items as people use them everyday. Also, keeping a theme with the photos was a good idea but could mislead people in what photography the business actually did, but overall the ideas were good.

3) The goodie bag to hand out at weddings was a very good idea what no one else had done, and weddings are also a good place to meet other people who may need a photographer. The calender with free photos was also a really good idea as no one else had thought of it and people usually need calenders. The keyring, fridge magnet and pen are also good because they are everyday items. The car sticker was a good idea to put on the back of his car to promote himself, but it wouldn't be very good as a handout. The CD to send to clients was also really well presented. Overall the quality of the items were all very good and well designed and the idea as a whole was very good.

I mounted these on black card, because it would look better on that white card because of the duotone effect. I arranged the photos together so the pipes looked like they were connected to eachother. The photos where printed on glossy photopaper.
